As a leader, there are certain qualities and characteristics of Lion that may help you to consider for yourself and your “pride”. Let’s take just a few minutes to explore these. Like all metaphors, it does not defeat this.
1. Protection
You don’t have to watch too many Discovery Channel shows about lions. Protect your territory, yourself, lions, etc. to see how well the lions are protected. What do you need to protect as long as you are more like a lion? Your own protection? Your money? Your children? Your partner? Your spouse? Your business? Your colleague? Your position? What is your belief? So what exactly do you need to protect?
2. Brave
Being like a lion means you are brave and courageous. Naturally, you choose when and where you are brave and timid, and whether you are brave or timid. We all make choices every day. Look for today’s and daily opportunities where you can be brave. It makes a difference for both you and others.
3. Willing to fight
Hmm … I know the lions will fight when needed. They do not choose to fight, but they are willing to protect their food, their companions, their territory, etc., so they fight as needed. What is one thing you are willing to fight?
Many readers are parents, and my guess is that many parents will be willing to fight for their children. Or it may be a professor who is willing to fight when he sees another faculty member being bullied. Maybe you are a teacher fighting for a particular student who needs your “protection”.
What is it for you? Really. What are you willing to fight for? Only one thing?
4. Hunter
Many people are now concerned about financial problems. Recently, a junior high school student in a movie telling me how she needs to come up with some ways to make money because her parents couldn’t give them after the congress was over. No more money for the movie that wrote that I heard a girl in the bathroom. You may be one of those who are “looking” for money. You may be looking for it for your own personal situation, or you may be looking for money for projects at work, community needs, etc.
But what else do people like lions want? You might explain it this way:
- Courage to find something that really makes me happy
- Courage to find your own success, ignoring the feeling that others are successful
- The courage to make dramatic changes in my career path also changes my personal life … and vice versa.
What are you looking for And like a savanna lion, you may or may not find it, but you hunt regardless.
5. Group members (part of pride)
6. A lonely person with a big plan of things
The last two are members of the group (that is, pride) and are somewhat lonely in a big plan. Let’s think about these together.
As someone looking for ways to stay positive, no matter how crazy things are around us, we need to consider ourselves part of our pride-Team-Family- Group-Association-Community-or whatever you might call it. We must deliberately bring together our group (small or large). It helps survival if we can use this term. Lions are not part of pride for no reason. There is a reason. You need your own “pride” to “survive” in your positive place.
And here’s the other part (at least as my little brain takes this into account), we’re also lonely in the bigger plans of things. That is, just as a lion sometimes hangs completely alone, rather than hanging out with all other animals, it is certainly almost always just with a few other lions. So sometimes you may need to separate yourself.
