Up to 60,000,000 homeless cats

This is an estimated number of homeless cats currently roaming the United States. Many were pets that their owners no longer wanted, so they were abandoned somewhere. Even more often, if you can live a 2nd, 3rd, or longer 4th generation “wild” or stray cat.

January and February are bad months for cat shelters. This is when the kitten’s excitement as a Christmas present diminishes, clears the mess, and the reality of daily feeding and training begins.

It is estimated that 4,000,000 to 14,000,000 cats are euthanized each year in the United States. It breaks my heart, but those who abandon their unwanted kittens really offend me. What they do is cruel and ruthless, leaving helpless kittens and cats to protect themselves in harsh and dangerous environments.

And who pays for these shelters and euthanizes all these cats? you do. Even if you are not responsible for the problem.

The majority of citizens have never dreamed of abandoning helpless animals. It is the small number of people without remorse or conscience that are causing this large-scale problem.

Let’s talk a little about some numbers. Let’s increase the number of homeless stray cats to 50 million more. Make 50% of them breeding females. This is 25 million cats that can give birth to 2 out of 5 kittens on average each year. This is 10 kittens per kitten multiplied by 25 million breeding females each year. According to my calculator, it is 250 million additional wild kittens in the environment each year. Second, if half of them are women, with 10 kittens a year and 25,000,000 women we started, unfortunately my calculator won’t be that expensive. In seven years, only one pair of cats can give birth to 450,000 kittens.

This problem is enormous. The destruction of the environment and the damage to native wildlife and animals is staggering. Cats eat about 5% of their body weight every day. The disease spread by these unfortunate animals infects countless animals that care for their pets.

So what can you do? Some states have trap, newter, and return programs. This is exactly what it says. They capture, castrate, and release the stray cats, and many of these stray cats have colonized them and return them to where they were found. This may be a great way to reduce the number of stray cats, but the traps are so numerous that there are many people who help catch these animals and never have a huge impact on their vast numbers. You can not. Also, some veterinarians refuse to sterilize these cats because they do not want them to be returned to the outdoors, which is not their natural habitat. Other conservation groups say that released animals can still thin out bird and small reptile populations and spread the disease.

Euthanizing animals costs more than money, and those who have to do this day every day have a pretty miserable time. Many people work in shelters not because they want to kill them, but because they love them.

In Australia, there was a debate about allowing pet stores to only sell contraceptive castrated animals. Only registered breeders can keep breeding cats. Some Shahs have gone as far as allowing only neutered animals as pets. The jury is still working on this, but there are about 12,000,000 stray cats in Australia. Many people try to take care of “their groups” of stray cats by feeding them and checking their health. If you catch them and take them to the bath or take them to a veterinarian, you risk (and receive) injury. Some states in the United States are blessed with stray cats.

In the small country town where I live, several women gathered to raise money to sterilize cats for free for pet owners. The local vet made his bit just to charge a minimal amount to cover his costs. In just a few years, these three women had their owners sterilized more than 400 cats for free. Perhaps this is something that could be encouraged elsewhere.

This problem is ours. It’s what we made. The cats did not want to be abandoned. It’s up to us to do anything about it. There is no answer. Hopefully I’ll make some of you aware of this issue and let you think about your values. If I upset you, I won’t apologize.

If you have a cat, please tell us that it has been sterilized. Unless you intend to breed from it. And remember, cats are a lifetime. In many cases this can be up to 20 years. And if you love your cat, love will be returned 10 times.

Marula Fruits-African sake for wildlife, or a complete myth?

Are you familiar with the Marula tree? Otherwise, it’s a beautiful African tree that produces wonderful and delicious fruits! Apparently a delicious fruit that intoxicates elephants …? The story goes on for years … it has even become a liquor called “Amarula” for lovers (by the way, it’s very tasty like Baileys)! origin The story dates back to the 1970s (1974 to be exact). A man named Jamie Uys produced two documentaries called “Beautiful People” (he also directed “Gods Must Be Crazy”). In particular, the footage of wild animals getting drunk after eating the fruits of Marula was an immediate hit (and won the highest documentary award). Since then, millions of people are still persuaded that elephants are really intoxicated with such “powerful” fruits! The question is, is that true? Genuine information or complete fallacy? Sorry to disappoint you, but unfortunately (unfortunately) (depending on how you see it ...
