As we all know now, Google released an algorithmic change called Panda (aka Farmer) in March 2011. This has changed the rankings on many sites, perhaps even yours. Then Google pushed out another change called the “penguins”. These changes lowered the rankings of many sites, some went up, and some were completely unaffected. Since then, some affiliate marketers have, of course, been concerned about this “new” approach. There are some great articles and blog posts you can find, which certainly changed the way SEO is done in the future, but here are some important things to keep in mind.
1.) It is always to provide original and valuable content. Over-optimizing a web page can cause some problems.
2.) The title must be genuine. They need to sound real. They had to sound like humans wrote them, and weren’t necessarily meant to be simply ranked by phrase.
3.) Use the footer wisely. Use the footer to link to what people are expecting to find in the footer. If you really need to get the anchor text on the page, find a natural way to put the anchor text in the actual menu at the top of the content itself.
4.) Multiple pages targeting modified versions of very similar types of keywords and keyword intents. There is a slight difference. Contrary to public opinion, this doesn’t help Google search.
5.) Pay attention to the backlinks. Especially the release of “Penguins” pays close attention to this. If you’re spending your time and effort developing a strategy around this, make sure there’s nothing that can be considered a “black hat” or even gray. Look for quality, not quantity.
Like life, there is no guarantee. You shouldn’t rely on one method to increase traffic to your site. You need to combine the creation of mailing lists, the proper use of social media, the creation of sticky sites that users want to return to, and the addition of more “value” to your site. In short, Google is a very valuable asset, but you need to start your business as if Google were gone tomorrow. Obviously, Google plays a major role in affiliate life, but diversification is always important in everything we do. There’s no doubt that Google is playing a big role in affiliate marketing, but it’s definitely shorter for anyone looking for a shortcut. The main point is not only to provide information, but to stick to the basics. There is no guarantee that Google will be unaffected by current or future changes, but at least those changes will not put you in a “cage.”
